The best kitchen designs and floor plans are set up with function, form and style in mind. These three elements of your kitchen design will influence the materials you choose, the positioning of important components, and the amount of money you can expect to spend. It is extremely difficult to bring all three of these elements into perfect balance so be prepared to give some time and effort to the planning stages of your project.

Kitchen designs and floor plans can be simple and practical, elaborate and luxurious, or something in between. Before settling on a final design, spend some time looking at how the options you are considering would fit into your lifestyle and your needs. Do you have children? Do you have pets? Do you entertain regularly? Do you want a kitchen that is quick and easy to clean? Look at traffic patterns and how people will navigate in and around the kitchen area. Avoid any designs that create bottlenecks or tight spaces, making it difficult to work and function in the kitchen. All of these issues are very important when planning what you final design will be.
